Our attention spans, no matter how unpredictable and disobedient, may have some wisdom in them, if treated with kindness.  In drawings and paintings, as in collages, allowing for gaps (on the other side of which, who knows what the world will look like) can result in "complexity" -- spaces embedded in spaces, spaces hiding around the corner or lurking at the edge, contrasting styles - all of which invite a viewer to shift focus as well.
